The Housekeeper at Patria Church maintains the cleanliness, safety, and organization of all facilities, including Patria Church, United Christian Academy (UCA), and Abundant Preschool of Learning (APL). This position ensures classrooms, offices, and event spaces are prepared and ready for daily use, supporting campus operations, school programs, and large-scale events through dependable care and hands-on teamwork. As part of the Facilities Team, the Housekeeper plays an important role in maintaining environments that reflect Patria’s standard of excellence and hospitality. At times, this position may support other Patria Church campuses for custodial or event needs, consistent with church policy and coordinated through the Facilities Team. This position provides meaningful, hands-on experience with opportunities to learn new aspects of operations and contribute to the growth of Patria’s expanding campuses and ministries. Each role carries the conviction that every family matters to God and plays a part in advancing His purpose through the local church, according to Ephesians 3:14–15: “I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.” The Housekeeper reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor.


Work Schedule and Daily Rhythm
Each day follows a consistent routine focused on keeping all areas of Patria’s campuses clean, safe, and ready for use. Morning tasks include vacuuming meeting rooms, cleaning classrooms and restrooms, and restocking supplies before school or ministry activities begin. Throughout the day, Housekeepers complete scheduled cleaning tasks, respond to work orders, and maintain high-traffic areas for safety and presentation. Some evenings and weekends may involve preparing facilities for services or events and ensuring all spaces are secured and ready for the next day. Every task contributes to creating a clean, welcoming environment where families can experience God’s presence and care through excellence and hospitality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


 Campus Cleaning & Maintenance:
  • Cleans and sanitizes classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and public spaces throughout Patria Church, United Christian Academy (UCA), and Abundant Preschool of Learning (APL).
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and maintains floors; cleans carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture as assigned.
  • Washes windows, doors, and fixtures; removes marks, graffiti, and debris to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Restocks paper products, soap, and cleaning supplies, maintaining organized janitorial and storage areas.
  • Safely handles cleaning materials and equipment in accordance with safety standards and product instructions.
  • Identifies and reports facility issues or maintenance needs promptly through the work order system.
  • Supports daily readiness of all areas to meet the operational and ministry standards of cleanliness and order.

 Event & Classroom Support:
  • Assists with the preparation, setup, and restoration of rooms for services, classes, meetings, and special events.
  • Provides hands-on support for conferences, VBS, church-wide celebrations, and other large-scale events.
  • Ensures event and classroom environments are clean, safe, and functional before, during, and after use.
  • Coordinates with the Facilities and Events teams to fulfill work orders related to room setups, cleaning needs, and event support across campuses.
  • Works collaboratively with the Facilities and Events teams to execute event timelines efficiently.
  • Responds quickly to requests or needs that arise during events or ministry activities.

Preventative Maintenance & Work Orders:
  • Supports UCA and APL with classroom adjustments, minor repairs, and daily operational needs.
  • Assists with facility readiness during services, VBS, SPRINTS, conferences, graduations, and special ministry events.
  • Helps prepare indoor and outdoor spaces to ensure a welcoming, safe, and functional environment for all campus activity.
  • Provides courteous assistance to staff and volunteers during event setup, transitions, and teardown.
  • Uses tools, materials, and equipment responsibly and keeps maintenance areas organized and clean.
 
Team Collaboration & Communication:
  • Works cooperatively with Facilities staff and ministry teams to complete tasks and meet schedules.
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with the Housekeeping Supervisor regarding progress, needs, or concerns.
  • Contributes to a positive, team-oriented environment that reflects the culture and values of Patria Church.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and a helpful attitude in supporting other Facilities staff during high-volume periods or special projects.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Follows all safety protocols and policies related to cleaning products, equipment, and facility maintenance.
  • Reports hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA and campus safety standards.
  • Supports Patria’s efforts to maintain an environment that protects the health and safety of all guests, staff, and students.

Physical Requirements 
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. The individual must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and lift up to 40–50 lbs. (with or without assistance). This position may also require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and hand-eye coordination for keyboard data entry and viewing information on a computer monitor. Education, Training, and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  •  Previous experience in housekeeping, custodial services, or janitorial work preferred. 
  •  Basic knowledge of cleaning practices, sanitation standards, and safe use of cleaning products preferred. 
  •  Experience working in school, church, or multi-building environments is helpful but not required. 
  •  Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, and janitorial tools. 
  •  Valid California driver’s license may be required to operate golf carts or approved campus vehicles, based on assignment 
  • Willingness to learn maintenance procedures, campus systems, and safety protocols through provided training.

Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
  •  Basic understanding of cleaning practices, sanitation standards, and proper use of cleaning products. 
  •  Ability to safely use common housekeeping equipment, including vacuums, mops, brooms, and floor care tools. 
  •  Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of campus spaces. 
  •  Ability to identify and report cleanliness concerns, supply needs, or safety hazards to a supervisor. 
  •  Willingness and ability to learn housekeeping procedures, campus standards, and safety protocols through provided training. 
  •  Ability to support room setups, basic resets, and upkeep of shared spaces during and after use. 
  •  Ability to work independently while following direction and established routines.
